Worn or damaged bumpers may allow the landing gear to extend or retract beyond its normal limits. This can impose concentrated loads on the airframe that would normally be cushioned and distributed by the bumpers. The replacement bumpers are manufactured from a tough polymer material designed to resist cracking and bulging.
